- Dr. Sylvia Sims Gray is a professor in the School of Social Work, College of Health & Human Services, at Eastern Michigan University. Her papers are primarily composed of her 2007 sabbatical project "The Artistry of Cultural Competency."

Biography
Dr. Sylvia Sims Gray is a professor at Eastern Michigan University in the School of Social Work, in the College of Health & Human Services. She received her BA from Tennessee State University, her M.S.W. from Michigan State University, and her PhD from Wayne State University. Her areas of research interest include social work practice in urban centers, cultural competent practice, cultural competent organizational development, and African American children and families. Along with Dr. Lynn M. Nybell, Dr. Gray serves as a consultant on culturally competent organizational development in southeastern Michigan.
