Administrative History

The Student Center at Eastern Michigan University was dedicated in 2006, after a 2004 groundbreaking. The building was the result of a collaboration between student leaders, the Physical Plant, and the Office of Student Affairs. The building offers communal space for students to pursue academic, recreational, and social activities, as well as dining options.

Scope and Contents

The Student Center at Eastern Michigan University was dedicated in 2006 and serves as a gathering place for students. The  Student Center records have been divided into two series: Dedication and Virtual EMS. The Dedication series includes materials related to the building dedication, such as programs, schedules and clippings. The Virtual EMS series includes the Event Management Schedules from 2006 to 2007. Also included in the series are materials related to the September 2004 groundbreaking and the Student Art Gallery. Additionally, there are several memorabilia items relating to the building dedication and opening.
