The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Organizations collection documents the activities of the many organizations and programs at Eastern Michigan University that are allies and supporters of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender lifestyle. The collection is arranged alphabetically and divided into two series. The two series are Administration and History, and Publicity and Outreach. The records date from 1973-2012.

Administrative History

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Organizations collection contains information about the many organizations and programs at Eastern Michigan University that over the years, as far back as 1975, have been supportive of the gay, and lesbian lifestyle. These groups include: Queer Unity for Eastern Student Teachers (QUEST), Eastern Pride Education Coalition (EPEC), the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center, Gay Student Union (GSU), Gay Student Association (GSA), Student Alliance for Gay Athletes/Allies (SAGA), Tri-Pride, Lesbian Gay Bisexual Student Association, Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Faculty and Staff Coalition (LGBFSAC), Lesbian Gay Bisexual Support Services Offices, Chi Theta Sigma, and Delta Lambda Phi.

Eastern Michigan University has been named one of the top gay friendly universities in the nation by the 2011 Campus Pride Index.

Scope and Contents

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Organizations collection contains information on history, information materials, lesbian and gay faculty and staff, clippings, events and pamphlets, news releases and the Queer Regional Student leadership Summit. The collection is arranged alphabetically.

The collection is divided into two series. The Administration and History series contains information on history, information materials, lesbian and gay faculty and staff, and lesbian, gay, sexual and transgender resource center. The second series, Publicity and Outreach contains information on clippings, events and pamphlets, news releases, the Queer Regional Student Leadership Summit and the LGBT Resource Center Correspondence. The collection records date from 1973-2012.

Arrangement of materials

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Organizations collection is arranged into two series: 1. Administration and History includes information on the different organizations history, information and materials, lesbian and gay faculty and staff, and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender resource center; 2. Publicity and Outreach, which includes clippings, events and pamphlets, news releases, Queer Regional Student Leadership Summit, and the LGBT Resource Center Correspondence. The Clippings is further subdivided chronologically from 1980-1989, 1990-1999, and 2000-2012. The Queer Regional Student Leadership Summit is also arranged chronologically from 1996, 1997, and 1998.
