Administrative History

The Historic Preservation program was started in 1979 by Professors Marshall McLennan and Andrew Nazzaro of the Geography Department, and with help from a grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Since then the program has developed into one of the most well-respected Historic Preservation Programs in the country. Still apart of the geography department the HP Program offers courses in cultural landscapes, buildings and architecture, and heritage interpretation. This collection focuses on the inner workings of the department including outreach programs and projects Historic Preservation has headed.
