- Professor Frederic H. Pease was an instructor of music in the Michigan State Normal College Conservatory. His papers include clippings, correspondence, photographs, and published books on the instruction of music, along with published sheet music and compositions. While there is some biographical material dated as late as 2010, the bulk of the material dates from 1873 to 1909.

Biography
Frederic H. Pease was born in Farmington, Ohio in 1839, the son of Peter P. and Ruth Crocker Pease, who were among the founders of Oberlin College. Frederic Pease acted as the accompanist to Professor E.M. Foote, the head of commencement music at Oberlin; when Foote accepted a position in Ypsilanti as the director of the Michigan State Normal College Conservatory, Pease traveled with him and taught piano. In 1863, he was made professor of music in the conservatory, and served in this position until his death in 1909. In 1870, he organized a musical society and served as its director.
Scope and Contents
Professor Frederic H. Pease was an instructor of music in the Michigan State Normal College Conservatory.The Frederic H. Pease papers include biographies and materials from Pease researchers/genealogists, clippings and news releases, correspondence, programs and flyers from events, as well as photographs. The bulk of the collection is composed of published books and sheet music, which has been divided into its own series Publications. Items in this series have been arranged chronologically. While there is some biographical material dated as late as 2010, the bulk of the material dates from 1873 to 1909.
