Abstract
The Department of Foreign Language and Bilingual Studies collection documents the workings of the department. The Foreign Language department offers classes that focus on more than six different languages. These classes help students to effectively communicate in these languages in many different aspects of the real world. The collection is arranged alphabetically and is divided into two series. The Curriculum and Programs series includes information on advising, program descriptions, and evaluations. The Publicity and Outreach series contains brochures, conferences, clippings and special events. Records date from 1949 to 2012.

Administrative History

The Foreign Language and Bilingual Studies Department at Eastern Michigan University offers many opportunities for students who wish to effectively communicate in different languages. There are courses available in: Bilingual Teacher Education, International Trade and Business, Language and Literature, Language and World Business, and Language, Journalism, Telecommunications and Film. Courses focus on a number of languages including: French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese and the Classics.
