Biographical Note

Dr. Betty Brown-Chappell is a professor at Eastern Michigan University, teaching in the School of Social Work and serving as the Associate Director for the McNair Scholars Program in the Honors College. Brown-Chappell received her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Michigan in 1969; her Masters of Social Work with a concentration in Social Treatment from the University of Michigan in 1971; and her Ph.D. in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago in 1991. She began teaching at EMU in 1996, and previously taught at the University of Michigan, Illinois State University, the University of Chicago, DePaul University, Northeastern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle.

Scope and Contents

Dr. Betty Brown-Chappell is a professor in the Eastern Michigan University School of Social Work. In 2002, she was elected to the presidency of the Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, and has served as the Associate Director for the McNair Scholars Program since 2008. The Betty Brown-Chappell papers include one series of Evaluation of Instructional Excellence materials. Also included are certificates and awards, clippings and press releases, CVs, correspondence, and course materials.
