Abstract
Dr. Betty Brown-Chappell is an emeritus professor from the Eastern Michigan University School of Social Work. The Betty Brown-Chappell papers date from 1990 through 2014 and are arranged alphabetically by file title. The collection includes certificates and awards, clippings and press releases, CVs, correspondence, course materials, and photographs. Her papers pertain primarily to her academic tenure and professional accomplishments.

Biographical Note

Dr. Betty Brown-Chappell is a professor emeritus from the Eastern Michigan University School of Social Work. Brown-Chappell received her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Michigan in 1969; her Masters of Social Work with a concentration in Social Treatment from the University of Michigan in 1971; and her Ph.D. in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago in 1991. She began teaching at EMU in 1996, and previously taught at the University of Michigan, Illinois State University, the University of Chicago, DePaul University, Northeastern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle. During her time at Eastern Michigan University, Brown-Chappell served as the Associate Director for the McNair Scholars Program in the Honors College, was honored at the Annual Martin Luther King Celebration in 2012, and served outside of the University for a variety of professional organizations. Brown-Chappell retired from Eastern Michigan University in 2014.
