Abstract
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) was founded in 1932 in Wisconsin in order to promote, defend and enhance the civil service system in the United States. Today, the AFSCME Council 25 Local 3866 and Local 1666 represents approximately 200 skilled tradespersons, groundskeepers, dining service employees and custodians at Eastern Michigan University. The  American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) records include materials from the Eastern Michigan University Local 3866 and Local 1666, which represent maintenance, food service, and custodial employees. Records include collective bargaining agreements, news releases and newspaper clippings, flyers and handouts, and newsletters from approximately 1961 to 2005.

Scope and Contents note

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) records include materials from the Eastern Michigan University Local 3866 and Local 1666, which represent maintenance, food service, and custodial employees. Records include collective bargaining agreements, news releases and newspaper clippings, flyers and handouts, and newsletters from approximately 1961 to 2005.

The AFSCME records have been divided into two series:  Administration and History and  Collective Bargaining Agreements. The Administration and History records include materials relevant to the operations and activities of the two Eastern Michigan University Locals, such as clippings, correspondence, news releases, newsletters, and flyers and handouts. The Collective Bargaining Agreements series includes both draft, final, and revised copies of the collective bargaining agreements between the Local 3866/1666 and Eastern Michigan University.
